![]() ![]() ![]() Now download, from the app store, the version of MacOS you want to downgrade to. Set that drive with the backup data aside. Do not make a Time Machine backup as that will take way too long and recovering just your data might be difficult if you are not used to working with Time Machine. Once the update is complete, you now need to take your data, that you want to keep, and copy it to a backup device (external drive is best). A lot of posts will suggest you delete the data, and if that is no problem for you, all the more power, and it is simple reinstall. Yes, this will take up disk space, but once it is downgraded you can start removing the upgraded part from the SSD. But fear not, if you can upgrade, you can also downgrade. You can't stop the upgrade once in motion.
